The TED test

Ted I've devised a simple test that will help me decide who we want visiting "hello_world", and who we don't. Here's how it works:

Visit this site (thanks Mike)

If you find the prospect of attending one of the events mentioned there only mildly interesting - thanks for stopping by, perhaps sir/madam would be more intellectually challenged here.

If like me, on the other hand, you were blown away to the point of masturbation by the sheer scope of speakers and topics on offer; and if the fact that the Feb gig is sold out already, hit you like a punch in the gut leaving you with a sick empty feeling...

I look forward to our many great conversations...!

Update: Just landed an invite to TED Global in Oxford, UK (12 - 15 July), who's joining me?

This is the first time I heard of TED. Yes, it is a little overwhelming so it will probably take me some time to get ready for it. Yes, there will need to be a few conversations to keep us all occupied, entertained, and on our toes to arrange to attend TED2006 so we don't get shut out. But I am ready to begin.

Gee. TED is SO unexciting! A bunch of boring people telling us things we already know! Jeez, Rich, next you're gonna tell us that we should have a rich and varied reading palette! You're probably even gunna say that Seth Godin and Tom Peters are interesting!

Nah. Who needs to learn? Who needs to think!? I think it's essential to NOT be exposed to new ideas! They just cause discomfort. And change. And who needs that??????

Which is all another way of saying that I wish the damn Flash interface worked a bit better on the site. I couldn't read the intro page. Only the supplementary pages. The book club looks absolutely essential. But it says, "price included in TED fees". How much?? Looks essential.

Blue skies
love

Woah, I leave for a week and you get a TED invite. I would give my left nut to go. What is the world coming to if they let the likes of you in? Did you simply apply? Did you have to perform a host of demeaning sexual acts? -- Seriously though, 3 minutes at TED is better than a kick in the sack. Sure you will do fine and if people look like they're losing interest, swear profusely. When you meet Bono, tell him to read my blog.
