Just a quick one-line summation of my Rant! the other day:
In presentations, the design template is the visual equivalent of a monotonous tone.
You do not have permission to bore...!
Update: Wow, I rest my case. This is a beautiful example: timeous, and basted with sweet irony. Steve, give Cliff's book another read bud.

I agree - I hand wrote this on the bottom of some visuals I just presented to Deloitte in London.
I've also started referring to "bland guidelines" - I think this phrase should be in common usage...
