Am I the only person in the world that finds it ironic that it took Malcolm Gladwell 254 pages to get across his point in "Blink"?
Just wondering...!

No. And you are correct about your observation of business books too. Too many pages, too few ideas. I think I first observed this when I read "Evelyn Wood's Guide to Speed Reading" years ago. The book is a slim volume, perhaps only 100 pages in length, yet spends at least 70 of those pages selling you on the idea of speed reading, selling you on the book, selling you on the Evelyn Wood school, selling you on this, that and the cat. I've bought the damn book already! Just give me the facts so I can implement them! I wound up skipping most parts just to get to the point. I just read the 8th Habit which is far, far worse than the 7 habits you cited. At least in 7 habits Covey has seven points to get across in a single book. In 8th habit he takes more space to say less. Perhaps it is time for a revolution?
